Nairobi Residents To Continue Facing Water Shortage As Tariffs Expect To Be Raised

The rise is to affect small households and other residential apartments who consume less than 6cm per cubic metres. An approval of the review tariffs will witness Nairobi water company improve the water quality ratio from 91% to 100. It will also increase the water coverage to 85 percent.

According to Nairobi water this move will help them in paying loans from the World Bank and the African Development Bank. This amounts to ksh 78.5 million that should be paid by next year not forgetting ksh 78.1 million due in 2024 and 68.5 million due in 2025. Recently the cost of commodities in the country has increased and Netizens have not been happy for this.

Post covid, price of things like maize flour, bread and cooking oil has been high with many Kenyans complaining. Recently there was no fuel in the country causing it’s price to rise also. Inflation rates in the country have improved also .
