Raila Odinga has garnered more votes in Aden Duale’s home constituency, a move that proved surprising since the outgoing Garissa Township Member of Parliament is a close ally of DP Ruto. On Thursday morning, Raila Odinga was leading the tally at Garissa Township with a total of 16,718 votes as compared to DP Ruto’s 7,904 votes.
In the entire Garissa county, Mr Odinga was still leading with a total of 53,431 votes while DP Ruto got 16,172 votes. This proved to be a major upset in one of DP Ruto’s strong allies.
In other reports, speculations emerging state that Aden Duale might have lost his seat, but we shall keep you updated on the same. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has urged the electorate to be patient as the process of voter tallying and verification is ongoing across the country.
Different media stations have continued to give varying results, with some stating that the Azimio flag-bearer Raila Odinga is leading the race, while others show that the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto is ahead.
However, the media Council of Kenya stated that the variation was brought due to the different methods employed in voter tallying across the media stations.
