This was due to the just concluded August elections that saw Wafula Chebukati declaring William Ruto as the president-elect.

In Mombasa county, Mike Sonko has congratulated Abdulswamad Nassir of the Orange Democratic Movement( ODM) after he is set to win the Mombasa gubernatorial seat. Provincial results from five out of Six constituencies show that Nassir is leading in the race to the governorship.

Sonko in a post hailed Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir stating

Sonko continued to praise Nassir stating that despite the loss he will still be instrumental when needed by the leadership of Mombasa County.

,’ Despite the loss, we shall always be there for everyone of you even those who never voted for us. I shall as well continue to support you all y own little capacity and that of my Sonko Rescue team.”He added.

In Kakamega county Fernandes Barasa is leading ahead of Outgoing senator Cleophas Malala of the ANC party. This is according to provincial results from 10 out of 12 constituencies.
The voter turnout however has been low as opposed to August 9th, the constituencies from Kakamega encompassed Mumias East, Ikolomani, Matungu, Shinyalu, Butere, Malava and Lugari constituencies. Voter bribery was alleged by ODM’s agent in the area as he congratulated Mr. Barasa after his win.
