It’s a Twitter showdown for the ages as two Kenyan politicians duke it out in the virtual ring. In one corner, we have the fiery Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya. And in the other corner, the suave and sophisticated Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and Arts, Ababu Namwamba.
The reason for their online tussle? The recent appointment of a social media sensation, Azziad Nasenya, to a government position. Salasya was quick to pounce on Azziad Nasenya’s appointment, calling it “nonsense” and accusing Namwamba of using government platforms to impress Nasenya. Shots fired!
“Ababu Namwamba, what exactly attracted you to this lady that you got confused about and decided to use government platforms to impress her? Wacha kuangusha Luhyas in gvt hii kitu ungefaulu tu bila hizi zote. When I call Ababu as an MP for serious engagement, he can’t pick up calls, but he is quick for this nonsense,” Peter Salasya exclaimed.

But this isn’t just a case of political posturing. Our intrepid reporters have uncovered evidence that Salasya has had his eye on Nasenya for some time. In fact, more than four months ago, Salasya tweeted that he was “looking for her” and that Nasenya would make a great brand ambassador for Kakamega County.
“There is this girl from Luhya land called Azziad Nasenya, who made a viral song. I am looking for her; she is such an inspirational girl who can be a brand ambassador for us from Kakamega County.” Salasya suggested. Hmm, could it be that Salasya is simply suffering from a case of unrequited love?

The Twitterverse is abuzz with speculation about Salasya’s true intentions. Some are even suggesting that he’s just jealous of Namwamba’s suave moves. But one thing’s for sure: this Twitter feud is far from over. Will Salasya continue to call out Namwamba on social media? Will Namwamba respond with his own fiery tweets?
