Azimio La Umoja Executive Director Raphael Tuju now claims that Wafula Chebukati met with a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders at the wee hours of Monday, August 15. The announcement by Raphael Tuju comes after an affidavit claiming that he met the IEBC chairman on Monday August 15 was submitted to challenge Azimio’s petition.
Raphael Tuju alleged that he made a consequential visit to the Bomas of Kenya the moment he learnt that some forms that were being uploaded at the IEBC portal were being deleted and others uploaded.
As he was preparing to leave, Raphael Tuju argued that he saw a section of William Ruto’s delegation preparing to have a meeting with the IEBC chairman. The two include Veronica Maina and Josephat Nanok.
He stated, “As we were meeting the IEBC official that morning, the IEBC official Guliye left the meeting for a washroom with a phone. He spent a long time there and after we were leaving after the meeting, we found Veronica and Nanok at the door step.”
Chebukati was then urged to tell what exactly it is that he discussed with the UDA officials after meeting with Raphael Tuju. This was after an allegation emerged that Raphael Tuju tried to force Wafula Chebukati to alter the results.
Chebukati argued that Raphael Tuju and his team promised to pay him well but he turned down the offer, adding that he’s paid well by the government. The affidavit by Chebukati read, “I was visited by Raphael Tuju, Senator Amos Wako and Advocate Kyalo Mbobu. They indicated that they had made several attempts to see me to discuss the tallying and results.”
“I told them that I could only meet them in the presence of all Commissioners.” What are your thoughts on this story? Share your insights down below.
