Celebrated TV host Trevor Noah has stated that he will step down as the Daily Show host.In a video statement shared on Twitter Thursday, Noah said that after seven years as host of the Comedy Central satirical news program, his “time is up.”
Following his announcement as Stewart’s successor, attention was drawn on the Internet to jokes he had posted on his twitter account, some of which were criticised as being offensive to women, and others as mocking the Holocaust. Noah responded by tweeting: “To reduce my views to a handful of jokes that didn’t land is not a true reflection of my character, nor my evolution as a comedian.”
Noah hinted that his decision to leave the show is rooted in his desire to return to more standup work.
“I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, and when I got back out there, I realized there’s another part of my life out there that I want to carry on exploring. I miss learning other languages. I miss going to other countries and putting on shows,” Noah said.
He has been a sensational TV Host but has now decided to focus more on stand-up comedy.
