Nairobi’s UDA gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja now admits that he didn’t complete his studies at UON, blaming lack of fees as the root cause. The current Nairobi senator has been fought in the past few weeks, and this is after his degree certificate became a subject of debate.
Allegations have been made concerning how he acquired his Degree certificate at Team University Uganda. For a very long time, Kenyans thought that Honourable Sakaja was a graduate at UON, only for him to come out later during clearance and presented a degree from Team University in Uganda.
Sakaja presented his degree to IEBC for clearance to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat. However, during a previous interview on radio, Senator Sakaja stated that he was yet to graduate, adding that he was admitted at UON in 2003 to study a Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science. Sakaja added that because of inability to raise school fees, he hasn’t completed three units of his degree at UON. He stated,
“There is a document they keep spreading around of students to be discontinued and it shows the reason there was school fees. Of course, it was a difficult process, there are a few units I didn’t complete but the ceremony of graduation is not what confers knowledge to you.”
He however stated that at some point when he had the money, he was embarrassed to go back and complete the degree, arguing that he was shy. However, he stated that in the near future, he will consider going back to finish the program.
Sakaja dismissed the ongoing rant that argues his degree is fake, adding that by all means, his degree is genuine. Recently, Sakaja promised his supporters that he will be on the ballot in the coming General election. Yesterday, CUE revoked Sakaja’s degree for the second time.
