We remember him as one of the most rhetoric radio presenters of all time, having graced the industry with one of his favourite tags, ‘Je, huu ni uungwana?’ Leonard Mambo Mbotela has been appointed and sworn in as a member of the National Heroes Council Board.
The radio presenter started his career at KBC channel 1 and KBC Radio Taifa. Prior to hosting his ‘Je Huu ni Uungwana,’ Leonard was a sports presenter, attracting a huge fan base. Other shows that Leonard Mambo Mbotela hosted include ‘ongea lugha sanifu, waliosifika, haulipi.’
Mambo Mbotela’s voice was legendary, as he got a chance to speak at Moi’s press for a duration of seven years. On August 5, 2022, Amina Mohamed, Mambo Mbotela was honoured into the National Heroes Council Board, a position he will serve for a period of three years.
Mambo Mbotela was on Monday September 26 sworn in by Chief Justice Martha Koome. It shall be recalled that Mambo Mbotela’s voice was the most heard across the country, as he reported the attempted coup in 1982.
Last year, Mambo Mbotela wrote a book that summarised the entire experience. It shall be recalled that Mambo Mbotela returned to KBC after serving Moi for seven years. Mambo Mbotela has always been one of the most sought-after radio presenters of all time. He is remembered as a lover of ‘zilizopendwa’ music tunes.
