They say life and death are within the power of the tongue, while others choose to use their tongue inappropriately, the president-elect, William Ruto chose to speak life to his future.
The former evangelist who is currently the president-elect of the republic of Kenya foretold his presidency 32 years ago in an event at JKIA. Dp Ruto hinted at his presidency to the former long-serving Press Secretary of Mzee Moi, Lee Njiru at JKIA.
Njiru says that around 1990 he was at the parade square at JKIA with the late former Head of State Moi, who had just arrived in the country from an official visit to the United States of America.
Dp Ruto who was also among the people waiting for the heads of state at JKIA, waited until Mzee Moi had left and immediately ascended to the Pavillion where Mzee Moi used to take a salute before inspecting the guard of honor and vowed that one day he will stand there too.
The young Dp Ruto who was 23 years by then, signaled Lee Njiru and prophesied right in his face that one day he will also inspect a guard of honor from the same pavilion.
“He told me, Lee watch this space. One day I will inspect a guard of honor from here. I will take a salute from here as the President of Kenya”. Mr. Njiru said as he remembered those moments, immediately Ruto was announced the president-elect by the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Mr. Njiru also asked the president-elect to take the salute from JKIA, at the parade ground once he is sworn in as the president of the Republic of Kenya, adding that since fate has already decreed him as a leader, he should embrace everyone with love and not seek political revenge from those who insulted, vindicated and maligned him.
“I want to remind the President-elect Dr. Ruto that if he is sworn in he should take the salute from JKIA at the parade ground. That is what I ask him. He promised me that. His dreams have come true and he should honor his promise. I wish he will stick to his words so that there will be no political revenge. He has been insulted, vindicated, and maligned but as they say, you don’t throw stones at a tree that has no fruits, ” He added.
Mr. Njiru also labeled William Ruto as a role model to the young generation following his win at the just concluded general elections saying that his win is proof that through focus, resilience, perseverance, and consistency there is no irresistible huddle.
“By ascending to power the President-elect has proved one thing. With focus, resilience, perseverance, and consistency there is no unsurmountable hurdle. He has made history. He Has become a role model to young people. He has shown even a little-known village like Sugoi can produce a president,” said Mr. Njiru, 73.
Nevertheless, Mr. Njiru urged president-elect William Ruto to Pursue reconciliation and also make sure that his government is as inclusive as possible, citing that those who voted for him and those who did vote for him are keenly watching his leadership waiting to find out whether he is indeed a corrupt leader the way he was depicted to be.
“The government of Dr. Ruto should be as inclusive as possible. Kenyans are watching very closely. He ought to show that he is not as bad as he was depicted to be. Dr. Ruto must prove them wrong by his political actions,” said Mr. Njiru at his Ngata home on the outskirts of Nakuru City.
