Mental health issues have been on the rise in the country and the world at large. In Buruburu a police officer hit headlines after a viral video of him surfaced as he staggered and seemed intoxicated. Harrison Mwangi Mugo’s viral video caught the eyes of inspector General Of Police Hillary Mutyambai who condemned the behavior terming it us un acceptable from the civil servant.
“The NPS condemns it in the strongest terms possible. A uniformed officer is a visible representation and face of government and is required to remain extremely disciplined and professional while on and off duty,” The IG stated.
However according to colleagues from the day Mugo was captured drank till the day he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of Buruburu police station, he always spoke about his deceased son who passed away on May 11 2019 through a road accident in Laikipia.
Mugo’s wife claim that the police officer always talked about his son and it appeared he found peace in alcohol. Ms Wambui, Mugo’s wife, claims his husband as a good man and that he was the only sole bread Winner of the family. He also provided for his mother .
