A shocking video of a pastor caning members of his congregation has re-surfaced online only days after Ida Odinga pleaded with the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) to regulate the sprouting of small churches and ensure that ministers get theological training.

Although the location and country of the incident are uncertain, netizens have connected the event to what Mama Ida was addressing and supported her viewpoint on church control.
In the video, a clergyman seemed to parade members of the church while viciously caning them. Although the pastor’s motivation for thrashing the worshippers is unknown, many have speculated that he may have convinced them that was the only way they would get blessings.
Churches have recently come under fire, with Mr T Mwangi, a youthful preacher, also supporting Ida’s call for church control.
