After a three year legal feud between the late Fidel Odinga’s family against their daughter in law Lwam Gatechew Bekele, it’s now evident that Fidel’s family will be in control of their son’s multimillion assets that he left behind before his death.
The Odinga’s won the case after the court allowed them to control Fidel Odinga’s estates which was initially controlled by Fidel’s wife and her brother Fahm Gatechew Bekele.
In a document signed by both parties legal team, Fahm’s name was substituted by Raila Odinga junior’s name where he was declared as the administrator of the estate and he will be sharing the role with Fidel’s wife Lwam.
“The grant of administration issued on January 9, 2019 be amended to reflect Lwam and Junior as the administrators of the estate,” read part of the consent.
Initially Idah Odinga had revealed that the grant issued by Lwam had locked them out from the affairs of the estate despite the estate being owned by her Child Fidel Odinga.
She also accused Fidel’s wife Lwam of sidelining Fidel’s children that he had sired with another woman, according to Idah she claimed that Lwam had deliberately ignored Fidel’s children from having access to their father’s estates hence an indication that she had evil intentions against them.
“The proposed administrators cannot be entrusted alone to faithfully administer Fidel’s estate,” she said.
Fidel Odinga passed on in January 2015 leaving behind his wife Lwam and one child. Before his death Fidel had no will. Weeks after Fidel’s death, his mother Idah Odinga revealed that Fidel had twins which he had sired with another woman and that the children fully dependent on him.
However Fidel’s wife Lwam retaliated saying that her mother in law Idah Odinga’s claims were not factual, since Fidel’s twins were born six months after his death. She however revealed that she had no issue with the twins having access to Fidel’s estates if it’s proven that they are his children.
The estimation of Fidel’s estates currently stand at ksh40 million, the late Fidel had around ten properties before his death.
