According to insiders privy to the ongoing investigation, Mumbua has been arrested as an alleged accomplice in the radicalization and indoctrination of church followers. “Mumbua was taken into custody in her hideaway in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, where she had been residing at her aunt’s house since the investigation started,” confirmed a source close to the matter. The authorities had flagged Mumbua as a person of interest following extensive analysis of Pastor Mackenzie’s phone records and interrogation of suspects.

The pastor’s wife will be treated as a witness in the case, given her active involvement in the church’s daily activities, according to the same sources. The arrest of Mumbua followed the discovery of damning text messages between Pastor Mackenzie and his wife, which ultimately led to the pastor’s arrest on April 15, 2023. Despite leading a private life away from the public eye, Mackenzie married Mumbua after the passing of his second wife in 2017. His second wife had left behind four children, while his first wife, who passed away in 2009, left two children.

Some use religion to destroy other people and also employ other destructive means.
