Rigathi Gachagua: The Alleged Animosity Between Me And Uhuru Kenyatta Is Pure Politics

The second-in-command promised to look for Uhuru Kenyatta when the political dust settled

by Jayden Musembi

Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has spoken of the continued public rift between him and former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Rigathi argued that the alleged animosity was pure politics, and that nothing was personal between him and Uhuru Kenyatta.

Gachagua revealed his strong friendship with Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that he would look for him when the political dust settled. He promised to meet him for a cup of coffee like they used to do in their old days.

While speaking to KTN on Sunday evening, Mr. Gachagua stated, “We have no problem with the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta, we wish him well in retirement and infact myself, he has been my buddy for 20 years, when things settle down I will look for him.”

“This was all politics, there was nothing personal. He wanted this way and I wanted another, I have won he has lost and we move on. And I will look for him we have a cup of tea, we have a chat and catchup on the good old days.”

It shall be recalled that Gachagua had continously bashed Uhuru publicly, and this includes the speech he made on his Inauguration on September 13. He defended his speech, arguing that he wanted to tell Kenyans the truth, and that it wasn’t an attack against Uhuru Kenyatta. What are your thoughts on this story?
