Gabriela Cavallin, the former girlfriend of Manchester United’s star player Antony, has come forward with allegations of domestic abuse, urging the club to take immediate action. Antony, the talented forward for Manchester United, has recently faced accusations of abusive behavior from Cavallini, leading to his withdrawal from international duty.
Speaking exclusively to Brazilian website UOL, Cavallin made disturbing claims of enduring multiple instances of abuse during her relationship with the United winger. Alongside her testimony, she shared harrowing evidence, including photographs of bloodstained clothing and disturbing text messages allegedly exchanged between her and Antony. These troubling allegations have triggered investigations by both Greater Manchester Police and Brazilian law enforcement.
In response to these grave accusations, Manchester United issued a formal statement on Wednesday. The club acknowledged the allegations and expressed their commitment to taking the matter seriously, stating, “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting inquiries. Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments. As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse.”
As a consequence of these allegations, Antony has been withdrawn from the Brazil national team. However, he has publicly denied the accusations on television in his home country. Despite his denial, Gabriela Cavallin has passionately called for Manchester United to suspend Antony from playing, expressing her dismay at his continued involvement in the sport while under investigation.
She told The Sun on Sunday, “Antony needs to be taken off the pitch. It’s disappointing he’s still allowed to play while there’s an investigation. I am absolutely destroyed by the whole process. How can life go on as normal for him? They can’t just know what they know now and not do anything. He needs to be removed.”
Cavallin’s complaint was initially filed with Brazilian authorities in June, raising questions about the three-month delay in Manchester United’s response. Cavallin herself voiced these concerns, saying, “Why did it take United three months? It’s just not OK. I prefer not to believe such a huge club, with such serious and professional people, would cover up a situation like this.”
In his defense, Antony has described his relationship with Gabriela as “tumultuous” but denied any involvement in violent behavior. He took to Instagram to express his trust in ongoing police investigations, hoping they would demonstrate his innocence.
Adding to the weight of the allegations, Gabriela shared a series of WhatsApp messages detailing more alleged violent altercations with the Premier League ace. The messages depict a tumultuous relationship, with accusations of physical harm and emotional distress.
