Deputy President William Ruto has defended himself from accusations from the former Premier Raila Odinga who questioned his income source.
On February 5, when addressing his supporters at Matuga’s Kwale Stadium, Dr. Ruto dismissed Raila’s allegations that he amassed his fortune via illegitimate means. Dr. Ruto is fond of donating money for religious institutions, women’s groups, and youth organizations during his campaigns, which infuriates Mr. Odinga.

“I have raised funds for women organizations, boda boda groups, and many others in Kwale and throughout the nation. This made Raila jealous to the degree he questioned my source of money. But I want to advise Raila to quit being envious; more is still to come,” Ruto remarked.
Previously, The ODM Leader Raila Odinga stated that the UDA Party head spent more over KSh 100 million per month while having a monthly salary of KSh 2 million only. Raila further argued the sum of cash that Ruto hands out monthly is not feasible even for a telecommunications powerhouse like Safaricom.
On 5th February both the Azimio la Umoja camp that back Raila Odinga’s Presidential ambition and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance headed by Ruto and Mudavadi visited the vote rich Coastal region to stir up support for their respective candidates .
