Salvador Javier Suarez, Jose Gregorio Camargo Castellano, and Joel Gustavo Rodriguez Garcia are the Venezuelans who caught the eyes of the public after they were caught in possession of election materials at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport(JKIA).
Reports from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) have revealed that the three infiltrated the electoral commission’s systems and could have tampered with the results announced by Wafula Chebukati, the country’s returning officer. Forensic reports have revealed that the three could easily access the IEBCs system remotely and thus could have interfered with the just announced election results.
,’ It was established that the confiscated exhibits had substantial information held in the IEBC systems are in full control (sic) of foreigner’s employees of M/S Smartmatic International Holdings BV and Seamless Limited who have been contracted by IEBC’ read part of the forensic report.
After the three were arrested, Wafula Chebukati was quick to point out that they were not involved in any rigging claims. DCI reports show that the individuals could have played a big role in manipulating the August 9th polls.
1TB external disc, a laptop, six flash disks, three mobile phones, one tablet, a Sim card, and a monitor were used in the forensic analysis. What was on the laptop included crucial details that could have been used to manipulate the polls. IEBC database schematic diagram, an IEBC network diagram, the IEBC Kiems kit deployment file, as well as passwords, subsisted in the laptop.
Azimio La Umoja moved to court to challenge the results terming them thanks and void. Several IEBC commissioners led by Ms. Cherera also disowned the results. An affidavit by Mr. Justus Nyaganya stated that a foreigner was used to rig the polls.
