Sonko Vows To Help Legendary Conjestina Achieng Get Back To ‘Normal’

by Jayden Musembi

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has promised to help Legendary Kenyan boxer Conjestina Achieng recover from mental illness. For a second time, Mike Sonko promised to help for the former in getting medical attention after disturbing pictures of her current state resurfaced on social media.

In a lengthy post, Sonko stated that the country has failed in supporting its heroes, adding that he will provide his full support to see her back in her correct mental state. Taking to his Facebook page, Mike Sonko wrote,

“Good Morning fellow Kenyans, I’m truly saddened by this WhatsApp message from Conjestina’s son. Our leaders are busy campaigning while one of our shujaas who once made this country proud is currently languishing in poverty and needs help due to her ill health.”

Sonko stated that in her previous rehabilitation, she was treated to full recovery. However, when she returned back home, her situation changed again. Sonko stated that the message shared to him by her son forced him to take key actions to help her regain her health. He added,

“I have singlehandedly helped her before, taken her to various hospitals and rehabilitation centres including Nairobi County rehabilitation centre in Parklands, Diani Beach among others where she gets full recovery and discharged then when she gets back to shags after a while gets worse again. Through her Son the family believes she needs prayers and are proposing taking her to Pastor Ezekiel. They have been appealing for help but none of our leaders has heeded to their cry.”

The response by Sonko comes days after Conjestina Achieng was spotted at Yala in a very disturbing and disappointing state. She had turned out to being a beggar, a move that raised so many reactions online. Conjestina Achieng is a Legendary Kenyan boxer who won so many International awards for the country in the 2000s.
