“When we take over, we will continue with the work he has started and move on. This bond will not die with the elections. The elections are just going to strengthen it and we will work together moving forward,” Mr Odinga said.
Mr Odinga also thanked his party for nominating him as the presidential candidate for the incoming General elections revealing that he was hesitant at first when the party requested him to join the race.
In attendance were ODM deputy party leaders Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho who hoped to represent ODM as their presidential candidate, however they both dropped their ambition to support Raila Odinga.

Wycliffe Oparanya alluded that Raila Odinga’s experience in politics made him the perfect candidate for the presidential.
“I do hereby propose that Raila be our next candidate in the August elections. We are giving him all the powers to go out there and negotiate with other leaders to ensure he becomes the 5th president.” Oparanya said.
