Binti Marvels, a women-led social enterprise committed to improving menstrual health in Kenya, will host the first edition of its Adopt a Girl Charity event on November 1, 2024, at Sigona Country Club. The event aims to raise funds to support 2,000 girls and 1,000 boys from underserved communities in Kajiado County with hygiene products and health education.
Binti Marvels, founded in 2021 by lorna Joyce, focuses on addressing period poverty, which affects 65% of the 14.5 million women of reproductive age in Kenya. This crisis forces one million girls to miss school each month due to a lack of access to sanitary products. The organization produces high-quality, affordable menstrual products and has impacted over 400,000 women across the country through its distribution network.

The charity event will provide Dignity Kits to students. Each girl’s kit, costing Ksh 1,400, contains sanitary pads, soap, petroleum jelly, and undergarments. Boys will receive kits valued at Ksh 875 with soap, boxers, and other hygiene essentials. The event offers sponsors three support tiers, with opportunities to adopt groups of students:
– Tier 1: 1,000 girls and 500 boys
– Tier 2: 500 girls and 250 boys
– Tier 3: 250 girls and 125 boys
Supporters will benefit from branding, media recognition, and participation in distributing the kits. According to Binti Marvels, this initiative will empower students, reduce absenteeism, and break social taboos surrounding menstruation.
The organization also aligns its efforts with global sustainable development goals and calls for public support through donations and partnerships. With this event, Binti Marvels seeks to create long-lasting social impact, promoting education and improving the quality of life for Kenya’s youth.
