Gideon Mike Mbuvi Kioko popularly known as Mike Sonko is a Kenyan politician who has been branded as a controversial leader due to his leadership skills. Before stepping foot into politics, Mike Sonko was already making it big in the matatu industry where it is said he owns a fleet of Matatus that operates around Eastlands area, Nairobi Kenya that gives him over Kes6 million a month equivalent to Kes 72 million a year. He is also known as the king of gold due to his love for gold that covers everything he owns; from cars, chairs, watches, rings, etc. Apart from owing Matatus, the former Nairobi governor also owns entertainment joints across the country, one of them being the famous VIP Volume Club located in Mombasa County which cost him millions of money for its construction.
As of July 2022, it was reported that the controversial politician’s wealth stands at $200 million equivalent to Kes24 billion.
4. William Ruto
William Samoei Ruto also known as the Chairman of the hustler nation, is the president-elect of the republic of Kenya. In 2021 the self-proclaimed hustler was forced to respond to claims that he had gained his wealth through dubious means and for the first time, he declared the source of his wealth revealing that he makes Kes1.5 million a day (Kes 45 million a month) from chicken rearing, where he said that he has reared over 200,000 chickens in his Koitalel poultry farm.
They forgot to disclose that my poultry business, which they listed in acreage, has 200,000 chickens and this man sells 150,000 eggs a day, making Sh1.5 million daily. He said as he continued to disclose the source of his wealth.
He also added that he owns 400,000 shares of telecom giant Safaricom and 8,000 extra shares of Kenya Airways. Apart from owning a poultry farm and shares, the Deputy President also owns large tracts of land, farms, a gas company, and private homes, according to reports it is said that the leader of the hustler nation has 18,520 acres of land in three counties, five helicopters, two hangars, two hotels with a total accommodation capacity of 219 beds, three private residences, a gas company, and a poultry farm, where chickens are under round-the-clock state security. Among the choppers owned are; Airbus H145 T2 with a purchase price of Sh970 million; 5Y DSC (Eurocopter 130 T2, Sh740 million); 5Y KDN (Airbus H130, Sh330 million); 5Y DSN (Airbus H125, Sh290 million); and 5Y SAK (Airbus H125, Sh290 million), whose net worth is Kesh2.6 billion in total.As per reports, it’s Alleged that the Dp’s current net worth stands at $400 million which is equivalent to Kes48.08 billion.
3. Raila Odinga
Raila Odinga as he is popularly referred to as baba is a Kenyan politician and the former prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya. The ODM leader has been able to gain his wealth from politics, business in oil and gas, land, manufacturing, and other ventures. As per reports, Raila is worth $500 Million which is equivalent to Kes60 billion, however, the Azimio leader had renounced those claims saying that he is worth Kes2 billion.
