“Efforts to Reconcile Matiang’i and Ruto Underway Amidst Mixed Reactions

by Chief Okuzo

In what seems to be a brewing political bromance, Multiple sources have confirmed that there are concerted efforts to bring together two of Kenya’s political heavyweights Fred Matiangi and President Ruto. The former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and President William Ruto have been at loggerheads for quite some time, but it appears the hatchet may be buried soon judging by the recent meeting held in Gusii land organized by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Ezekiel Machogu chaired the meeting with aim of bringing together all Gusii leaders regardless of their political affiliations. Attendees of the meeting included Machogu himself, Fred Matangi, Shadrack Mose who is nominated for Solicitor General, former Deputy Majority Leader Jimmy Angwenyi, and business tycoon John Simba.

The meeting comes ahead of Mr. Machogu’s much-anticipated homecoming ceremony, scheduled for March 24. According to sources, President Ruto is expected to grace the event, which could provide a perfect platform for the two political heavyweights to bury the hatchet publicly.

While the news of the potential reunion has sparked a heated debate online, with mixed reactions from netizens, Lawyer Miguna Miguna had some strong words to say about it. “If true, this would be a tragic and horrible mistake,” he said via his Twitter account. “The millions of Kenyans who voted for William Ruto and Rigathi hate Fred Matiang’i and everything he represents: tyranny, looting, abuse of power, and unbridled arrogance.”

Miguna went on to say that those who torture and murder innocent Kenyans should not be forgiven, and those who loot public resources meant for job creation, education, healthcare, and infrastructure should never be reconciled. It remains to be seen whether the potential reunion will come to fruition, but it’s clear that opinions on the matter are strongly divided.
