Education CS George Magoha has stated that contractors building the new CBC classes will be paid once the new administration is established. Magoha spoke while inspecting the progression of classes in Bungoma County.
The Outgoing Education CS further stated that the delay of payment has come as a result of the transition of the financial year and the new government coming to place. He promised the contractors that their money will be settled once the process is complete.
He urged the CS who will take over from him to ensure that the contractors are paid. He stated, “By the time we transit to the new government, I hope all the 10,000 classrooms will have been completed and those who will not have been paid, the incoming government to ensure that once the exchequer is open, we should pay the contractors very quickly. The classrooms have been contracted at a reasonably good price.”
Magoha argued that the construction of CBC classes is at 99%, and that completion will be done by Monday, next week. He further congratulated Kakamega County for speeding up the process and ensuring that the construction was complete on time.
He explained that the delay witnessed in Bungoma was a result of the higher number of students, but the process would be complete in due course. Magoha also commended on the rumoured strike involving Lecturers that is suspected to started on Monday. He urged for immediate solution of the matter to ensure that disputes do not arise.
