Machakos and Nakuru County Elect More Women into Power

Whatever a man can do a woman can do better so goes the saying. This year’s elections have witnessed a change in power as more women have been elected into power. From Nakuru county which witnessed three women clinch top seats, Machakos County is the latest in the race.

Susan Kihika dethroned governor Lee Kinyanjui winning the gubernatorial seat in Nakuru County. Garnering 440,707 votes, Susan edged out her closest competitor Lee who managed to get 225,623 votes. Other women who managed to clinch seats in Nakuru include Charity Kathambi, Martha Wangari, Irene Njoki, and Jayne Kihara.

In Machakos County, Wavinya Ndeti claimed the governorship as Agnes Kavindu won the senatorial race. Kamene Kasimbi Is the county’s women’s representative.

Wavinya Ndeti is the former Transport and Infrastructure, Chief Administrative Secretary. She won under Wiper Party Ticket. Francis Mwangangi will deputize Ms. Wavinya.

Wavinya took to Twitter to thank her supporters stating that in the covid times they underwent real struggle as the world faced an economic crisis. She further stated that she is willing to work in a bid to ensure that citizens have good leadership.
