At least 14 people have been confirmed dead after a mass shooting was reported in Soweto South Africa. According to reports from sound sources, the incident happened at the wee hours of Sunday morning just after crossing midnight.
Authorities stated that out of the 10 people who were injured in the scene, four people were in critical condition after the mass shooting. The Gauteng police commissioner stated, “Yes I can confirm that the incident did happen and it happened around 12:30am this morning.”
The police commissioner stated that people were having fun in the tavern before they were approached by bandits who shot them randomly. He stated, “Primary investigations suggest the people were enjoying themselves in the tavern. They just came in and shot at them randomly.”
Further reports from the police stated that the victims of the incident were aged between 19 years and 35 years. Police stated that the suspects escaped immediately after conducting the mass shooting. After being informed of the incident, police arrived at the scene and found some people had died. The situation has raised tension in the area since the suspects are yet to be identified.
Police have intensified investigations to get to the root cause of the incident and also arrest the responsible culprits. Further reports will be issued in due course.
