On Tuesday 23rd August 2022, Kenyans woke up to sad news of the suspension of Charlene Ruto’s Twitter account, the account had over 142k followers and she only followed 1, 399 people.
However after carrying out a fact check, it was revealed that the account was not associated with the president elect William Ruto’s daughter and it was said that the person who managed the account was an idle Kenyan youth who had mastered the art of tweeting like Charlene via the social media platform.
Charlene, who is rarely seen commenting on matters to do with politics, is said to be the one behind the suspension of the account after reporting it to Twitter for impersonation following a public outcry. Here are some of the reactions from netizens after finding out that the account had been suspended over violation of the social media platform’s rules and policies.
This comes weeks after her brother Nick Ruto’s Facebook account got hacked by unknown people. Taking a tour through his Facebook page, the account has been posting some Chinese videos unlike other times when it was under full control of the president elect William Ruto’s son.
