The sudden rise in criminal activities in Nakuru has been shocking many as Police in Nakuru county have shot dead four suspected gang members. The gang allegedly called ,’ Nyuki Gang’ has been disturbing the peace of residents in the area . The incident occurred in Barut, Nakuru West sub county on Friday morning.
Peter Mwanzo, Nakuru police commander has stated that this occurred at a village called Kwa Maiko . Two people had been earlier murdered at that area. The gang was armed with arrows and machetes which they were using to carry out their operations. Mwanzo stated that the police were alerted there is a gang that is shooting at people in the area and disguised themselves as civilians then proceeded to the area.
Not knowing they were dealing with police, the gang attacked them where the police were forced to open fire at the gang killing four of them.
,”Our officers were in civilian clothes when the suspects attacked. There were many as they attacked as a group. Some of the suspects escaped into the neighbouring maize plantation with injuries,”stated Mwanzo.
Mwanzo further urged the residents to share any necessary information that might help reduce crime as recently Nakuru county had become a Criminal area.
