Raila Odinga faces assassination threats will he survive?

by Chief Okuzo

In a recent rally held in Nakuru city, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga made a shocking revelation to his supporters. He hinted at plans of his possible assassination, just days before his planned demonstration on 20th March.

“akinipiga risasi ama kunidunga mimi kisu (if they shoot me or stab me with a knife), you can assassinate Raila Odinga physically but you can never assassinate his ideas and I’m saying that I am prepared to pay the ultimate price to liberate the people of Kenya, kwa hivyo Hatuwezi Kutishwa (we cannot be intimidated),” said Mr Odinga, with a fierce determination in his voice.

He also took a jibe at the deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, throwing his usual shades and stating that he is ready to pay the ultimate price for the liberation of Kenyans. “Tarehe ishirini tutaona na wao ana kwa ana (on 20th March, we shall see them face to face),” he declared.

In addition, Mr Odinga dismissed claims made by Dennis Itumbi, who alleged that they were planning to invade Kikuyu-owned businesses during the demonstration. “Jana pia nimeona Dennis Itumbi ameandika ati tumekuwa na mkutano tukipanga kuvamia biashara za Wakikuyu, hiyo ni Upuzi tupu (Yesterday, I saw Dennis Itumbi claiming that we had a meeting to plan the invasion of Kikuyu-owned businesses. That is absolute nonsense),” he stated.
