The first senate sitting happened today with Azimio members walking out of the sitting with what they termed as a failure to reach at an agreeable solution concerning how the speaker’s elections should be held.

,’ We feel that the clerk did not address the issues we raised properly, we feel that the clerk operated just like Chebukati operated at Bomas. He was in such a rush to make a ruling when we had all the time to dispense with issues‘ stated Moses Kajwang as he addressed members of the press outside Parliament buildings.

Ojwang continued to explain that they felt they were misrepresented at the house further adding that they had requested the sitting be broken off in a bid to allow others vote on what he termed equal ground.
We have raised serious objections to the clerk on the marginalization and the disenfranchisement of Nominated Senators. They were gazetted only yesterday in the evening and expected to come today. ‘

Kajwang continued to add that when he was the chair of the public accounts He had declared Kingi unfit to hold any public office.
,’ Amason Kingi is one of the candidates for Speakership. When I was the chair of the Public accounts committee I produced several reports that declared Kingi unfit to hold public office. Is that the person we want to sit in Senate that will be over sighting county governments?” Added Moses Kajwang.

Despite members of Azimio allied failing to show up for the sitting Kingi was elected as he met the two-thirds rule requirement. Kenya Kwanza Coalition won the elections under the stewardship of William Ruto
