Days after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced William Ruto as the president-elect, Azimio La Umoja presidential hopeful Raila Odinga has claimed they will be moving to court as they challenge the elections commission after announcing Ruto as the president-elect.
,’ Based on this, it remains unclear who won the presidential polls but we don’t want to see chaos on our streets and that’s why we have opted to move to court.’
Stated Raila Odinga.
Archbishop Ole Sapit seconding the sentiments added,
,’ Looking at what has happened in our country, we have been assured the country is at peace because of their performance in terms of advising the electorate that we need a peaceful country and we can affirm that the Odinga family stands for peace.’
Raila Odinga was speaking at his Karen homestead.
Azimio La Umoja One Coalition stated that the votes announced by Chebukati are null and void. Kenya Kwanza and Azimio we’re the horses to watch at the August polls. Roots party and Agano Party came in third and fourth in the elections. It should be remembered that this is not the first time Raila Odinga is moving to the supreme court.
The political legend had lost in the past Four times and now the fifth time. From 1997,2002, 2007, and 2013,2017 Jaramogi’s son had been on the opposite side before signing a peace agreement with former president Uhuru Kenyatta, a move that shocked many as the two never had good blood.
The battle is with the supreme court now as everyone wants a share of the pie. Raila has urged Kenyans to maintain peace .
