Coming to terms with the death of a loved one has never been easy as a mother of a deceased dies 50 days after losing her son. Cecy Gaitho lost her son Martin Gaitho after he was crushed to death at a road construction site in Kikuyu Area on June 5 2022.
Before her death, friends say they mostly never left her alone but stayed with her. Before her death she shared her last meal with friends before locking herself in her room with a charcoal stove. Cecy had posted on Facebook that she had no reason to live after her son’s death.
Cecy’s friend stated
,’Cecy was fine, she even prepared some food for her parents. At 11:38pm, she posted some photo(s) on her (WhatsApp) status and we made fun of life. She did it between midnight and morning,”
Her friends claim they did their best as they stayed with her even before she took her life. Her friends stayed with her at her Kinangoo home before they left for the capital but a friend stayed behind.
,’We tried taking her out to prevent her from being alone. We visited her as frequently as we could. One of us literally stayed with her at her home since the baby died, until last Sunday evening. They were sharing a room and a bed and she (Cecy) only took her life after the lady was gone,” the friend stated as she talked to Nation.
Cecy had earlier stated that she felt helpless after the death of her son and that she had been trying to follow up with the construction company for negligence but the company was not being cooperative. She further added that she had gone through court processes and she felt helpless and empty.
She will be laid to rest on Friday July 29th at her home in Kinangoo.
