Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has conceded defeat after Esther Passaris was declared the winner in the Nairobi women representative race. Taking to her Twitter page, Millicent Omanga argued that Passaris needs prayers for the five years she will be in office.
She went ahead and thanked the people who voted for her and those who didn’t. Even though the results weren’t in her favour, Millicent argued that she accepted the outcome of the election.
She stated, “I want to thank the people of Nairobi who voted for me & those who didn’t. I accept the results even though they’re not in my favour. Esther Passaris has won, she deserves our support & prayers as she steers the office of Woman Rep for the next 5 years. May God bless our country.” Her tweet came after the Nairobi returning officer declared Passaris as the women representative elect in the just concluded general election.
The ODM candidate garnered a total of 698,929 votes, while UDA’s Millicent Omanga garnered a total of 586,246 votes. The residents of Nairobi elected Johnson Sakaja as their Governor as the results announced by the Nairobi returning officer. The outgoing Nairobi Senator garnered 699,392 votes.
Edwin Sifuna won the race as the newly elect Nairobi Senator, garnering a total of 716,651 votes. Sakaja received his certificate in Kasarani. Sifuna’s supporters also joined him to celebrate the huge win. This comes as the country prepares to know who the next president will be. What are your thoughts on this story?
