Langata member of Parliament Jalango has officially announced the construction of affordable houses in Langata constituencies.
Through his social media pages, the comedian-turned-politician stated that the structure of the 4,800 affordable houses in Langata will start in Highrise Zone B area and the project will run for the next two years.
Today we mark the beginning of the construction of 4800 houses affordable houses in Langata Highrise zone B! All work will be done by Langata residents! The project will run for 2 years! he said.
Accompanying Jalango were the former Langata Mp Nixon Korir and the president William Ruto who presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of affordable houses in the region. The President started the construction of 4,056 house units for former slum dwellers in Kibera.
Ruto’s Arrival in Kibera was met with mixed reactions since the region is termed Raila’s stronghold. Raila has been receiving massive support from Kibera Residents since the day he started vying for the presidential seat. This was also the first time President William Ruto arrived in the region after winning the General elections.
His Arrival in Kibera comes days after, he revealed plans to deliver 200, 000 house units across the country annually. The President stated that his administration will work in conjunction with the private sector and county government during the affordable housing program that will also detail how finances will be made available for Kenyans to access mortgages.
He also declared that his administration will be constructing 200, 000 units every year, and the houses will be comprised of social and affordable housing.
During the Mashujaa day celebrations, Ruto also promised that his government was keen on making every Kenyan a house owner through the affordable housing program.
