The severity of symptoms varies from mild discomfort to severely debilitating pain.
It has also been discussed using a multitude of terms in the literature including pubo-sacroiliac arthropathy, pelvic insufficiency, symphysis pain syndrome, pelvic joint syndrome, pelvic girdle pain, pelvic relaxation syndrome and most of all symphysis pubis dysfunction.
