Wanjigi Sues Police for Swiping Ksh.8 Million Worth of Designer Goods

by Chief Okuzo

Kenya’s notorious law enforcers are back in the spotlight – this time, accused of moonlighting as high-end robbers. Business mogul Jimmy Wanjigi, known for his run-ins with authority, is now pointing fingers at the boys in blue, accusing them of looting his Muthaiga mansion in a brazen raid on August 8, 2024. According to Wanjigi, what was supposed to be a lawful search turned into a lavish shopping spree, with the police allegedly making off with a fortune in prized possessions worth over Ksh.8 million.

Among the loot, the list reads like a high-fashion catalog: two gleaming iPhone 15 ProMaxes, Samsung Flip 5s, a Patek Philippe Calatrava watch valued at a cool Ksh.1.3 million, a Hermes Clic H bracelet, and enough Cartier jewelry to make any thief blush. Even the diamond-studded earrings didn’t escape the plundering – with prices as jaw-dropping as $16,609 for a single pair. But the cherry on top? Wanjigi claims they even had the audacity to take cash belonging to his family and staff, right down to Ksh.9,000 from his housekeeper!

The tycoon, no stranger to drama, has now dragged Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli and DCI boss Amin Mohamed Ibrahim to court, demanding the return of his treasures. His message is clear: the government’s impunity must come to an end.

This raid is just the latest chapter in Wanjigi’s ongoing saga with President Ruto’s administration. Once accused of harboring unlicensed firearms, Wanjigi has faced what he describes as political persecution. And now, with this latest showdown, he seems determined to have the last word – or rather, the last ring, bracelet, and iPhone – back in his possession.
