Airbnb owners are now on edge following a series of gruesome killings in various Airbnb properties within the span of just two weeks. The latest incident, occurring barely a week after the tragic murder of Starlet Wahu by John Matara in an Airbnb in Nairobi’s South B area, has sent shockwaves throughout the community.
This time, the tragic event unfolded in a rental property located on Trm Drive, Thika Road, where the lifeless body of a 24-year-old woman was discovered in a mutilated state, just a day after she had checked in.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the prime suspect in this heinous crime is believed to be of Nigerian nationality and is currently on the run, having disappeared with the victim’s head. The motive behind this gruesome act remains a mystery, leaving many questioning what truly transpired within those walls.
According to the Airbnb owner, the suspect had initially called to request a reservation, claiming to be alone. He later obtained the keys from a nearby hardware store and checked in.
Shockingly, moments later, the victim joined him. After the horrifying incident, the suspect fled the scene, leaving behind the dismembered body of the victim. Speculation is rife among netizens that this could be a ritual killing, given the missing head of the victim and the suspect’s connection to Nigeria, a country often associated with such practices.
One concerned Kenyan commented, “Her head is missing in what is now being speculated as a ritual killing. The lover is on the run.”
In response to these distressing events, the Kasarani police chief has issued a directive to all Airbnb owners in the region. They are now required to install CCTV cameras on their premises, and all clients must provide relevant identification documents before being allowed to check in. This move aims to enhance security and prevent further tragedies in Airbnb accommodations in the area.
