The Kenyan police have taken the law into their own hands, resorting to brutal physical assaults on Pastor Ezekiel and his devoted followers during a gathering at the Kilifi Revival Crusade held at Kwa Kenga Wa Mumba Farm in the Mwezangombe area. According to the most recent reports, Pastor Ezekiel Odero has revealed that his congregation bore the brunt of police brutality as they sought to disperse the assembled crowd, gathered for spiritual guidance by the esteemed pastor himself.
On Thursday, the 5th of October 2023, the Kilifi North Sub County Police Commander, Maina, issued an official letter to Pastor Ezekiel Odero, sternly forbidding him from conducting the planned mega Crusade due to undisclosed security concerns. In the missive, Maina cautioned Ezekiel, stating.
“We have halted the crusade owing to security concerns that we cannot divulge, but we engaged in a discussion with Pastor Ezekiel’s legal counsel, Danstan Omari, this morning (Thursday), regarding these issues, and he comprehended the rationale behind our decision, pledging to pursue the matter.”
Another section of the letter issued a warning to Pastor Ezekiel and his followers, emphasizing that any subsequent gatherings on the same grounds would be deemed illegal and unlawful. This cautionary message prompted the pastor and his representatives to abruptly cancel their planned press briefing, without providing further explanations.
However, as they began to pack their belongings and vacate the premises, a sizable contingent of heavily armed police officers descended upon the location of the mega Crusade. Their mission was uncomplicated: to disperse anyone present in the area. This initial police operation quickly escalated into a vicious crackdown on Pastor Ezekiel’s supporters, with law enforcement deploying tear gas and batons to quell any potential disobedience.

In the aftermath of this brutal encounter, Pastor Ezekiel, visibly shaken, implored his followers to forgive the police for their excessive use of force. He spoke of international attendees who had traveled from far and wide to participate in the Crusade, only to be met with unwarranted aggression from the police.
“To those who journeyed from various corners of the world to attend the Crusade, I am deeply remorseful. I apologize to you and before God for the beatings you endured on the grounds. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me. I organized the Crusade, followed the correct procedures, and obtained all the necessary documentation. I had no inkling that you would be subjected to such brutality,” Pastor Ezekiel expressed in a somber tone.
It is worth noting that Pastor Ezekiel has been confronting a series of trials and tribulations throughout the year. He was recently rumored to have close ties to Pastor Mackenzie of the Shakahola Massacre. Since then, he has faced threats, with his church almost facing closure by government authorities. In June, the Interior Ministry, led by CS Kindiki, barred him from conducting a crusade in Machakos. A month later, authorities in Arusha, Tanzania, similarly halted a planned gathering.
