Government Revokes Registration of Pastor Ezekiel Church

by Chief Okuzo

In a recent development aimed at tightening regulations on religious organizations, Pastor Ezekiel’s center in Kilifi is among five churches facing revoked registrations. The Registrar of Societies has taken this action as part of an effort to increase oversight of religious institutions.

The affected churches are Helicopter of Christ Church, Theophilus Church, Kings Outreach Church, and Goodnews International Ministries, alongside Pastor Ezekiel’s center. The decision to cancel the registrations of these societies has been carried out under the authority granted by section 12 (1) of the Societies Act.

Registrar of Societies, Maria Nyariki, stated, “In exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 (1) of the Societies Act, the Registrar of Societies cancels the registration of the societies specified in the first column of the Schedule, with effect from the respective dates specified in the third column of the Schedule.” This move highlights a concerted effort to enhance scrutiny and accountability within religious institutions.
