Colonel Mustafa – once a celebrated Kenyan musician – has resurfaced, not on the stage, but at a construction site. Viral footage of him heaving stones alongside fellow laborers has ignited the internet, catapulting Kenyans into a whirlwind of emotions and spirited debate.
The last known sighting of Mustafa on social media dates back to May 10th, 2021, when he cryptically posted a photo with the caption “back for business” on Instagram. Little did his fans know that his business would involve brick and mortar.
The spectacle of a once-renowned artist engaging in manual labor sent netizens into a frenzy, prompting them to question the fate of Mustafa’s musical career. Amidst the chaos, some voices rose above the din, urging others to cease the mockery and judgment of former celebrities. After all, these individuals, like the rest of us mere mortals, are entitled to chart their own life paths.
While some dwelled on the possibility that the “Katika” hitmaker could be building his dream abode or assisting a friend, the video sparked a broader conversation about the treatment of celebrities in society and the need for empathy and understanding.

TikTok user Jean-Gin, seemingly exasperated by the public’s obsession with Mustafa’s affairs, implored them to mind their own business. Baddie on a jewelry budget, on the other hand, adopted a more compassionate stance, holding out hope for a musical resurgence from the singer.

In an interview with The Trend, Mustafa candidly shared his struggles, stating, “It’s been five years since I released music. Now I am back.” He continued, “I had depression at some point, about two or three years after I left ‘Nairobi Diaries’, and things went bad.”
