Guilty or not guilty:what the kenyan law says about Dj brownskin saga

by Chief Okuzo

A storm is brewing on the virtual plains of social media as online sleuths attempt to untangle the intricate web of mystery and responsibility surrounding the tragic demise of Sharon, wife of Kenyan DJ Brownskin. With every click and scroll, netizens pass judgment on the DJ who, in a surreal sequence of events, filmed his wife’s final moments as she succumbed to the deadly effects of an ingested poison.

As the digital court of public opinion overwhelmingly cries “guilty,” renowned Kenyan lawyer Cliff Ombeta throws a wrench in the gears, asserting that DJ Brownskin is, in fact, innocent of any criminal charges. “It is a moral issue. Hakuna offense kwa penal code. As long as he did not provide/avail the poison to her. You are a brother’s keeper on moral issues,” Ombeta declares, further reinforcing his stance by stating, “Did he induce? No proof. Did he aid? No proof. Did he abet? No proof. MORAL ISSUE: Did he watch? Yes. Not criminal. Did he record? Not criminal. Totally. Nothing more.”

The quest for answers propels others to dive headfirst into the labyrinthine depths of the Kenyan constitution, seeking any thread of evidence that might tip the scales of justice. In Kenya, it is a crime to aid or assist in a suicide, with penalties ranging from imprisonment to fines or both. However, the severity of the punishment hinges on various factors, such as the degree of involvement in the suicide, the mental state of the deceased, and the circumstances surrounding the act. Check out what the Kenyan law says about suicide below.

DJ Brownskin currently stands at the epicenter of a societal earthquake, having allegedly goaded his wife, Sharon, into taking her own life through a barrage of relentless taunts. The chilling crescendo of this tragedy unfolds as the DJ captures her final moments on his phone, subsequently sharing the footage with his inner circle.

The footage unveils a heart-wrenching scene: Sharon, mother to their children, concocting a deadly cocktail of unknown substances before consuming the fatal mixture. It is later revealed that she had ingested pesticide, her body violently rejecting the poison as she desperately clings to life. In the background, DJ Brownskin’s voice can be heard, taunting and daring her to continue, even callously remarking that she wouldn’t be the first to commit suicide.

Yet, amidst the cacophony of blame and speculation, DJ Brownskin’s fate ultimately lies in the hands of the legal system, where he is innocent until proven otherwise.
