Eric Omondi, the laughter guru himself, has vowed to march on the streets for a 14-day marathon, beginning next week, in a crusade for justice and a lighter load on life’s expenses.
During a heated exchange on Hot 96 this past Thursday, the jesting hero – who’s no stranger to handcuffs and courtrooms thanks to his protest endeavors – made it clear that his spirit remains unshaken, as he continues to champion causes like lowering the cost of living.
“I’ll be protesting for a solid 14 days, starting this Monday. But don’t expect me to reveal my secret protest lair,” he teased.
Omondi is committed to fighting for the everyday Wanjikus, though he admits the road is tough. “The messages I get are growing wilder by the day. Someone told me their kids haven’t eaten for three days. How can that even be?” he questioned, flabbergasted.
Ever the entertainer, Omondi also addressed whispers of a political future, fueled by his dramatic escapades and brushes with the law. While he doesn’t deny contemplating the idea, the comedian stresses the importance of first infiltrating the system to spark real change.
“People have told me that if I want to see change, I need to step inside the arena and fight for Wanjiku from within. It’s something I’m mulling over, but it’s a distant dream,” he mused.
He added, “I’m a comedian, not a politician-in-training. I’m just battling for the rights of the people, and I know I’ll make it happen, one punchline at a time.”
