Raila Odinga Accuses Deputy President of Planning Mayhem Against Protestors

by Chief Okuzo

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio movement, has accused the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, of plotting a violent attack on peaceful protestors. With evidence of a well-coordinated plan, Odinga took to his Twitter account to warn the public of the looming danger.

According to Odinga, Gachagua has set up an armory and command center in two different locations in Nairobi, stocked with a variety of modern and crude weapons including guns, pangas, and machetes. The weapons are being transported in a vehicle camouflaged as St. Mary’s Ambulance, and several public service vehicles have been deployed to ferry youths to various locations in the city.

“The same crude weapons and forces’ uniforms are being dispatched to upcountry locations in western and Nyanza, where youths have been booked in hotels with instructions to target spirited Azimio leaders,” Odinga revealed.

Odinga also claimed that rebel Azimio MPs from the western and Nyanza regions have been deployed in support of the dirty mission. Their target is said to be Azimio leaders in Nairobi, including Hon. Babu Owino, Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, Hon. Edwin Sifuna, and Hon. Jeremiah Kioni.

The gravity of these allegations is not lost on Odinga, who pointedly stated, “When this planned mayhem comes to pass, Mr. Gachagua must be prepared to take full responsibility for it.”

It remains to be seen whether these claims are true, but the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome has already warned that no demonstrations will be allowed to take place in any part of the country on Monday. Koome stated that the planned protests by the Azimio coalition are illegal and police are under firm instructions to disperse them.

President William Ruto has also weighed in on the matter, warning against the protests and accusing Odinga of destabilizing the country for his own selfish interests. He has refused to engage in talks with the opposition leader, stating, “we are not going to engage Raila because he knows he lost and we won.”
