Just minutes before the tragedy, AKA had taken to Twitter to share his excitement for his future musical plans with his fans. The rapper, known for his platinum hair and chart-topping hits, had responded to a fan who asked about his plans for his music career.
“I think when the mass country goes platinum deal?.” the rapper tweeted. His tweet was a response to one of his fans who had inquired about his plans for his music career. “aka worldwide when are you going blonde /platinum again?” the fan asked Mr. Kiernan Jarryd Forbes.
However, the future was cut short for the musician and businessman, as reports of his death started flooding the media. Confirmed by police, AKA was shot six times outside a nightlife venue on Florida Road. “Police have confirmed that South African rapper Kiernan Forbes known by his stage name AKA has been shot dead in Florida Road, Durban. Durban’s famous street has now been closed off as the investigation continues. The reason for the incident remains unclear, but fans and loved ones are mourning the loss of one of South Africa’s biggest stars. “Durban’s Florida road has been closed off following a drive-by shooting a short while ago Two people have been confirmed dead by emergency services, one of which is famous rapper Kiernan Forbes, affectionately known by his stage name AKA Reason for the incident still unclear” another tweeter user reacted to the saddening news of his death.
