The recent allegations of a home raid on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i have taken a new turn after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that no official complaint had been filed with the police regarding the incident.
Speaking in a statement, DCI boss Mohamed Amin stated that their investigations had revealed no formal report had been made, although they had recorded statements from the VIP police stationed at Matiang’i’s residence at the time of the alleged incident.
Furthermore, Amin explained that the ownership of a car captured on CCTV entering the former CS’s home had been traced to Inter Management Group Limited, with one of the directors, Peter Gacheru, found to be driving the car. Gacheru, who is also Matiang’i’s neighbor, confirmed the vehicle’s ownership in a letter to DCI.
However, lawyers who held a meeting with Matiang’i before the complaint was lodged on live TV made claims that around 200 lawyers had surrounded the former CS to shield him from police officers. DCI has said it is currently probing these allegations, along with the possibility of any false information being knowingly disseminated to the public.
DCI has obtained a search order to access CCTV footage from Matiang’i’s home to further investigate the incident. Amin has assured the public that if any officers from any security agency were involved in any unauthorized activities, action would be taken. The DCI is committed to uncovering the truth behind these allegations and ensuring justice prevails.
