It’s a rite of passage to find your name on Wikipedia, but it’s a whole different story when that name is misrepresented. As we all know, Wikipedia is edited by a team of volunteers, who can unfortunately tamper with individual information on the site.
Poor Larry Madowo, the former Ntv News anchor, had the misfortune of finding out that the information on his Wikipedia page was not only inaccurate but downright ridiculous. The award-winning journalist was shocked to discover that some mischievous contributor had edited his page to say that he is the “leader of the international girl guide movement who eats sand.” Talk about adding insult to injury.
Larry took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the encyclopedia, with the caption “who did this, I just want to talk.” Unfortunately, Wikipedia is edited by volunteers, meaning anyone can make changes to individual information on the site.

The incident occurred just one week after Larry had the opportunity to meet renowned actor, Idris Elba, in Davos, Switzerland. The CNN International Correspondent couldn’t help but share his excitement on social media, congratulating Elba and his wife, Somali-Canadian model, and actress Sabrina Dhowre, on their advocacy work as UN goodwill ambassadors. The couple had just become the first ever to win the Crystal Award for their work with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
