A video of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni speaking to CNN on the issue of LGBTQ rights has resurfaced on social media again. The video came in line with Ruto’s interview with CNN, where he confirmed his stand on the rights of the LGBTQ community.
Yoweri Museveni was once asked about his stand on Western Human Rights Groups. Museveni stated that the values of Africans had to be respected. In his address, Museveni argued that Africans had to be given a chance to manage the society in the best way they saw it.
On the issue of LGBTQ, this is how uncle Museveni answered…

He stated, “Respect African society and its values. Let us manage our society the way we see fit. If we are wrong we will identify by ourselves. Just the way we do not interfere with your business. Of course. Homosexuals are disgusting. I was recently told what they do and it’s disgusting.”
William Ruto sat on the same bench that Museveni sat a few years ago. He stated, “I am very clear that we respect everybody and what they believe in, but we also have what we believe in and we expect to be respected for what we believe in. When it becomes a big issue for the people of Kenya, they will make a choice.”
William Ruto stated that the current focus is not on homosexuals but on hunger and unemployment in Kenya. In 2018, Uhuru Kenyatta stated that since the LGBTQ issue wasn’t a topic of interest for the Kenyan people, the decision of the citizens would speak better.
Uhuru stated, “I want to be very clear, I will not engage in a subject that is not of any major importance to the people and Republic of Kenya. This is not Uhuru Kenyatta saying yes or no, this is an issue that the people of Kenya have bestowed upon themselves in a constitution after several years and clearly stated that this is not a subject that they are willing to engage in at this time.
