Azimio’s Deputy presidential candidate Martha Karua has responded following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold William Ruto’s win. Through a Tweet, Martha Karua argued that she respected the decision of the Apex Court, but she didn’t agree with the findings listed.

She stated, “the court has spoke. I respect but disagree with the findings.” It shall be recalled that on Monday September 5th, the Supreme Court released a unanimous decision to uphold William Ruto’s win.

The Chief Justice argued that the applications made by the petitioners didn’t meet the thresholds required to nullify a presidential election. In her statement, the Chief Justice stated that there was lack of formidable evidence that proved interference from third parties.

In what might seem to be a lengthy decision, the Supreme Court stated that after consideration and noting of wrangles between the IEBC chairman and IEBC commissioners, there was no clear evidence that could otherwise force the court to nullify the presidential election results.

Martha Koome insisted that the will of the people had to be upheld under all circumstances. The Apex Court concluded that the election couldn’t be nullified on grounds of a last minute boardroom rapture, since there was no evidence to prove that the disagreements in the commission could have otherwise twisted the verification of presidential results.
