Champions League Hits and Misses: Liverpool Thrashed by Napoli As Champions League Action Witness Different Results.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City won their first matches.

‘You will never walk alone,’ States the Liverpool slogan. Yesterday they had to walk alone after having nothing to show to their fans being thrashed by Italian champions, Napoli. Napoli caused trouble for Liverpool from the first minute of the game with Gomez being shambolic defensive-wise. Mohamed Salah again failed to score thus questions arising about his performance this season.

Napoli hit four past Liverpool with Zielinski clasping a brace Simeone and Anguisa getting a goal each. Napoli found a way to break down Liverpool as they passed the ball brilliantly. Luis Diaz would pull a goal back but it wasn’t enough. The midfield seemed disjointed as Jurgenn Klopp started James Milner and Elliot.

Other results saw Barcelona hitting five past Czech champions Viktoria Plzen. Robert Lewandoski has proved to be a good signing after he grabbed a hat trick. Ousman Dembele seems to have found his form this season, again being pivotal in helping his team kickstart their Champions League campaign with a win. Frank Kessie scored the first goal of the season before Lewandoski joining the action.

Other teams that were left shocked include Chelsea and Leipzig. Chelsea travelled to Zagreb only to loose by a goal to nil. Thomas Tuchel, the architect who guided Chelsea to win the champions league was sacked by the team after their loss.

Chelsea saw Lukaku and Timo Werner leave with Aubamayeng joining the team from Barcelona and the likes of Sterling arriving from Manchester City. Leipzig were thrashed by Shakhtar At home loosing four goals to one. The two teams lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Manchester City continued with their good form after comfortably edging out Sevilla.Summer signing Erling Haaland was on the score sheet again as City put four past the Spanish side. Bayern Munich on the other hand performed dazzlingly seeing off Italian champions Inter Milan. Leroy Sane was the player to watch being involved in both goals.

Ligue one champions PSG also won at home defeating Juventus by two goals to one. Neymar, Messi, and Mbappe Linked well to guarantee a deserved win. Current holders Real Madrid also won away from home in Scotland against Celtic FC. Karim Benzema was substituted in the first half after he got an injury. Vinicius Junior proved to be a thorn to Celtic netting again after a good pass from the wing. Madrid would then win by two goals.

With the first games played fans and coaches will be eager to see how their teams will play as Ajax thrashed Rangers. Other results saw Tottenham win at home against Marseille with summer signing Richarlson netting a brace. Ajax also won at Rangers despite the likes of Anthony and Lisandro Martinez leaving to join Manchester United.
