After days of speculation about the August polls, Kenyans finally cast their votes on the 9th of August 2022. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) under Wafula Chebukati announced William Ruto as the president.
The united states embassy has urged the president-elect to maintain peace in cohesion with his competitors allied to the Azimio La Umoja One Coalition. Urging the government to promote peace, the embassy in a statement released on Monday stated

Under the leadership of Chair Wafula Chebukati, the IEBC declared William Ruto the winner of the presidential election. This is an important milestone in the electoral process,’
The Embassy further stated that peace is paramount in the country.

The current United States ambassador to Kenya is Meg Whitman. She was nominated for the position by Joe Biden.
