Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has for the first time opened up about the conversation he had with William Ruto prior to the announcement of presidential election results.

It shall be recalled that William Ruto disclosed that he had spoken to the ODM leader and advised that whoever won the election, they would meet and talk of agendas in which the country would move forward.

Ruto stated, “This morning I called my competitor, Hon Raila Odinga, and I had a discussion with him and we agreed that whatever the outcome of this election, we should have a conversation.

He continued, “He had offered in his statement in Kasarani that he would be available for a handshake and I said that I will be available for us to have a cup of tea because there are areas we can agree on moving the country forward.”

Odinga told BBC that he spoke to Ruto, but at that time, it wasn’t clear who would be president. Raila argued that he doesn’t believe that Mr. Ruto was rightfully declared president.

He stated, “He called me before the results were announced and just greeted me and we said to ourselves at that time, because we didn’t know what was going to come out, that we would meet and talk.” The ODM leader also disclosed that the proposed meeting never happened since according to him,(Raila Odinga) Ruto didn’t win legitimately.

Mr Odinga stated, “We’ve not met, neither have we talked since that time because I don’t believe that he is the president-elect. I think that I should be the president-elect. And he knows it, deep in his heart that he did not win these elections, but a beneficiary of electoral fraud.” What are your thoughts on this story?
